It's been almost a year that we are trying to get a loan with NACA and their process is very long and unbearable. The agent that we work with in Baltimore office is totally a useless person and never responds to phone calls and email.

The only few times that she answered back, her excuse was ... "I was so overwhelmed".

We just started working with a normal lender and loan officer and they work very fast and they always care. We DO NOT recommend NACA to anyone at all and we think that they just don't care about their clients.

If you were having so much trouble communicating with your counselor, did you try to contact NACA mangement, NACA Member Services or even reach out through our social media channels? I suspect the answer is no.

Additionally, NACA has taken several steps to reduce the huge burden our counselors have had to carry in the past, including the hiring of more counselors nationwide and the establishment of our remote counseling program.

There are always multiple means of seeking help if you are having a problem in the NACA process.

As far as working with a "normal" lender, please make sure that you compare the difference their higher interest rate will cost you over the life of the loan, plus the PMI you will likely be paying.

The difference is always in the tens of thousands of dollars. Those who stop to look at the entire picture always recognize that it is well worth it, even if there is some extra work and frustration involved.
